New feature: user profiles can now be linked to a blog. So if you, your filmteam, your company or someone else writes a blog you want to connect to your profile page - this is easy now. Just enter the feed url in your user edit page. See my profile as example!
RSS is a very useful way of keeping track of certain sources of information. for example this blog is available as new movies. It helps you to receive rathershort information in your feed reader software, your browser, on your mobile or everywhere else - without going to the website and look for it (find out more about rss here). So what else is possible?
On rathershort you can get rss feeds for EVERY movie search. Example: You start a search for documentary films like this. Then you select the rss feed for this search query and add it to your feed reeder.
From now on you always get a new feed entry, when we put a new documentary on rs. Try it out!
There are some minor improvements for the festival overview, we included a geographical view and a better search layout (we think). We like the idea of browsing the festival world by using maps and distance infos...
We currently work on a much more intuitive way of showing you the most interesting facts and infos on festivals, so watch out for changes during the next days. One additional feature will be the "track this festival" function. It informs you via e-mail about every update on the profile page, as well as it reminds you on the deadline and event dates.
We are also including the detailed contact addresses of festival organizations and have 250 more festivals on our list that have to be checked before going online. So the festival part of the site will grow soon =)
What suggestions do you have - what else would make this part of the site more interesting and useful?
At rathershort we love to present films from as many countries as possible - however, this brings different languages into the game. Every movie can have an english and an original language description, and also the whole page is available in German and English (watch out what comes next, hehe) .. not to forget that every film can have numerous subtitle languages.
.. so sometimes we can choose between different information to offer our users - depending on which languages they speak. An example: We have a great French film that has French and English information, and our user comes from Italy and speaks Italian and French. Now we can automatically show the french texts instead of the English standard texts.
So all you need to do is to do edit your own profile and set the languages you speak =)
