Subtitles for your movie!
10. Nov 2008 19:00Hey there - from today on rathershort.com makes creating subtitles very easy. We offer an integrated online tool that makes adding subtitles a simple task.
Filmmakers can now subtitle their own films, import already prepared subtitles (for festival screenings for example) and export in many different formats.
Filmmakers can enable the functionality for all users, so they can let other people subtitle their movie - you can see a link "translate this movie" on the film profile pages where subtitling is enabled!

I love this feature. Thanks for pushing this feature.
I would like to add a note to all English-based filmmakers out there...
I am hearing impaired and I tend to watch foreign shorts because they are subtitled. I ask that you considered hearing impaired individuals when you release your short films, subtitle it in English as well as German, Spanish, etc. The same goes for other languages, if you're a German, Spanish, etc... subtitle in your language for your native hearing impaired individuals.
Thank you for your time.

Hi Eric, we will try to push this further, maybe we should offer a rss with all subtitled films?

That'd be awesome!

Hi Erik, we will come up with a new special offer for people who subtitle films. If the new subtitle is accepted by the filmmaker and goes online we invite the translater / subtitler to a free a pro account. We also plan to advertise the feature in a better way very soon and talk also to organizations of hearing impaired people (would be cool if you could suggest some also!) to find supporters and spread the word!
I have to admin we had not thought about all aspects of subtitling before your posting and now see a even bigger use and necessity than we though of in the beginning!
