Subtitle a film and get a free pro account!

Marcus Forchner 16. Dec 2008 17:14

We love subtitles as a way to make films more accessible. So from now on we support creators of new subtitles with a free pro account (3 months). Most of the films on rathershort can be subtitles by all users.

After the text is entered the film owner has to approve the subtitle to make it availabe online. So just enter subtitles for one film and send us an email after its approval! We hope to see lots of new subs, hehe!

IFA Pic

This summer rathershort was awarded a prize for innovation by VDI/VDE at the IFA trade fair in Berlin including financial support of 5000€. Andreas just send me a link to some pictures of the award ceremony. Looking backwards we can say that we enjoyed not to wear suits, hehe (30 degree celsius day!) ...

Festival Map improved

Marcus Forchner 10. Dec 2008 10:03

Andreas works on improvements for the festival maps. He just updated the feature so one can now see festivals nearby directly linked to their profiles. We think this is a cool way of browsing the festival world, so their will be more to come =)

Festival Search Plugin for your browser

Marcus Forchner 7. Dec 2008 18:55

I just wrote a little plugin for browsers (Firefox 2 and IE 7 should work) that includes the rathershort.com festival search in the normal search box.

We will put this into the sidebar in the festivals area soon.

Embed Films

Marcus Forchner 5. Dec 2008 11:35

It's easy to embed rathershort films on your own site. Few days ago we put this online, so that you can spread your favourite films in a better way. Any feedback?

Blogs in User Profiles

Marcus Forchner 5. Dec 2008 11:23

New feature: user profiles can now be linked to a blog. So if you, your filmteam, your company or someone else writes a blog you want to connect to your profile page - this is easy now. Just enter the feed url in your user edit page. See my profile as example!

RSS for search results

Marcus Forchner 3. Dec 2008 16:55

RSS is a very useful way of keeping track of certain sources of information. for example this blog is available as new movies. It helps you to receive rathershort information in your feed reader software, your browser, on your mobile or everywhere else - without going to the website and look for it (find out more about rss here). So what else is possible?

On rathershort you can get rss feeds for EVERY movie search. Example: You start a search for documentary films like this. Then you select the rss feed for this search query and add it to your feed reeder.

From now on you always get a new feed entry, when we put a new documentary on rs. Try it out!

Festival Tools - Wishlist?

Marcus Forchner 3. Dec 2008 16:36

There are some minor improvements for the festival overview, we included a geographical view and a better search layout (we think). We like the idea of browsing the festival world by using maps and distance infos...

We currently work on a much more intuitive way of showing you the most interesting facts and infos on festivals, so watch out for changes during the next days. One additional feature will be the "track this festival" function. It informs you via e-mail about every update on the profile page, as well as it reminds you on the deadline and event dates.

We are also including the detailed contact addresses of festival organizations and have 250 more festivals on our list that have to be checked before going online. So the festival part of the site will grow soon =)

What suggestions do you have - what else would make this part of the site more interesting and useful?
